About Us

The Bendigo Branch of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Victoria was formed in 1996. Since that time, the Branch has consistently promoted the breed and provided practical and tailored training to members.

Across our membership base, most members wish to be responsible German Shepherd Dog Owners and have a well behaved and socially accepted pet. However, some members may have the competitive ‘bug’ and want to involve themselves at a more competitive level by entering Trials, Shows and other activities such as Tracking, Herding or Endurance trialling. Others may wish to work through training difficulties such as dog reactivity. Whatever your reasons for joining the Branch, we look forward to assisting you with your training needs.

We are all volunteers and provide our services free of charge. We are always willing to share our knowledge and assist you if you have any questions relating to our activities or training matters.

Committee and Operations

As with any club, there is a great deal of work that goes on ‘behind the scenes’.

Our Committee meets once a month, sometimes on a Sunday after training. Members are always welcome to attend any meetings as non-participating visitors.

Instructor Meetings are called by the Chief Instructor and are generally held at least once a month.

Our Annual General Meeting is held each year early in March. This is the time you can elect your new committee for the year. Committee Member details are available on our Committee page.

Issues relating to training should be addressed to your Chief Instructor, and all other matters relating to Branch operation should be addressed to your Branch Manager.

Our Branch Manager will bring members up to date before training each Sunday and important information for all members will also be published in German Shepherd News under Bendigo “Branch Snippets”.

We also have a Breed Affairs Liaison who will advise on any upcoming information and will answer any queries from our members.

Any breed information from members is appreciated and upcoming lists are always available from us.
